AIGN has been a truly worldly fruit tree group for over two decades. In May, 2010, AIGN took another step towards making a name for itself in international circles. In the process, a large impact was made on the most highly populated country in the world and that was China
US: Nursery group visits China
The members of the AIGN, which stands for Associated International Group of Nurseries, recently returned from their first visit to China. In a land of over 1.3 billion people, this was a fact-finding mission that was all of that and more!
Groups of visitors going to China are no longer a novelty either for those going to that ancient country or the people there receiving them, says Lynnell Brandt, AIGN President.

However, even with this being the case, we were looked at with no small amount of wonder because AIGN has such a broad global representation. With our expansive international scope, they were very impressed to be able to talk with leading representatives from the world s major industries all in one group.
AIGN members took an extensive tour of that nation s leading scientific research centers along with other educational sites.
The China visit added yet another dimension to the already complex experiences of AIGN members AIGN has made it a significant part of its operational structure to travel the world in order to cement its own internal relationships while at the same time bolstering its level of related knowledge. A significant benefit as displayed in places such as China is a generation of valuable industry relations with new horticulturally-based players.

Founded in 1988, AIGN has been developed as a service organization available to thousands of fruit growers seeking the latest in varieties and rootstocks from around the world. Since that time it has grown to Eleven members representing Europe, South Africa, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and China. They continue to strive to explore new varieties, new breeders, new countries, and new relationships. Exploring, expanding and curiosity is what keeps AIGN a novel and progressive group.
