On the afternoon of March 16, 2010 Ms. Zhang Tianhao, CANGO project manager and Ms. Dagmar Woehlert, CANGO International Advisor, went to Dandelion school, together with two representatives of the German Centre in Beijing, Ms. Hanna Boehme, Managing Director of German Centre and Ms. Lue Hong, Public Relations Manager of German Centre.

The German Centre provides service of various kinds to small and medium size German companies in Beijing renting office space at the Centre. Furthermore various activities have been organized for the tenants. One activity before Spring Festival was used to collect clothes that were supposed to be donated to children in need. Through communication with CANGO Dandelion school in Daxing District of Beijing was selected for the donation as it is known to CANGO through an IT training and computer project that has been implemented with the support of Microsoft since 2007.

Dandelion school was established in August 2005 as the only government approved middle school specifically for children from low income migrant families in Beijing.

The visitors had a tour through the school and finally talked to the principal Dr. Zheng Hong. Thus they learnt about the active and very engaged team of teachers that has been able to raise funds for school facilities and equipment such as a library, a multi media room and a computer room. Students have the chance to gain a lot of valuable knowledge including English which they used right away to communicate with the foreign visitors. In order to open perspectives for the students after they completed middle school Dandelion school established close contacts to a vocational training school close by.

The kids were happy to receive clothes and CANGO and the German Centre will consider to continue supporting the school and the students.
