CHENGDU, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Computer maker Dell Inc. started constructing a new operation center in the southwestern city of Chengdu on Wednesday, in its latest move to tap into the rising market in west China.

Dell's new center in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan, is the second of its kind in China after opening its Xiamen base in the eastern province of Fujian.

"The construction of the new center shows Dell's resolve to further dig into the Chinese market," said Min Yida, president of Dell's Greater China District.

The center will combine computer manufacturing, sales, and services once it starts operations in the fourth quarter of 2011, Min said. It is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs for the local community.

China is the second largest market for Dell following the United States. The company reported a 21 percent year-on-year rise in sales in China during the fourth quarter of 2010.
