CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing rail transit line 1 (from Chaotianmen to the University Town) will be constructed in two phases. The first phase (from Chaotianmen to Shapingba) will open to traffic in September 2011 and the second phase (from Shapingba to the University Town) in 2012 based on estimation. In 2011 rail transit line 1, 2 and 3 will open to traffic. After the first phase of line 6, from Shangxin Street to Lijia, and the south extension section of line 3, from Ertang to Yudong, open to traffic in 2012, citizens can take rail transit in 8 urban districts (except Beibei District), CBD of New North Zone, traffic hubs, habitation areas, and important urban functional zones.
