CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing officially began to construct the 1st national non-epizootic area for oranges in 2007. Through 4-year construction, the area will receive the overall acceptance inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2011.

Chongqing has been attaching importance to the quarantine of plants, among which the orange is the primary. Canker, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, and Bactrocera minax have been controlled effectively via the construction of the non-epizootic area. At present, the orange occupies a planting area of over 2.5 million mu in Chongqing and becomes an important support for farmers to get rich. (Translated by Sun Hongxia, Fathom Language Limited)
