The city should aim to take on 12 percent of the nation's key publication projects within the next five years, the Shanghai Municipal Press and Publication Bureau said Wednesday.
It expects Shanghai's press and publication industry to reach some 170 billion yuan ($26 billion) by 2015, and said that the city should plan to build two large bookstores at Jing'an Temple and in Hongqiao, which should each cover an area of 20,000 square meters.
