Local power authorities said Monday that a backup supply of power from Sichuan and Hubei provinces has been secured for the summer.
The city is expected to surpass its maximum capacity by 3 to 4 percent during the hottest months of the year, said the Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company.
It added the city can currently provide up to 28.5 million kilowatts of power during peak times with its resources and outside support.
