Female artist Sun Xiaoyun holds a calligraphic exhibition

Sponsored by Chinese Artists Association, an exhibition about Sun Xiaoyun s calligraphic works entitled Calligraphy has rule, opened April 15 to April 23 at Hall 4 of the National Art Museum of China. It is the second time that the female artist has held solo calligraphic exhibitions in this museum since 2006. The exhibition comprises a total of more than 80 refined works created by Sun Xiaoyun in the past four years. The book named Calligraphic Collection of Chinese Contemporary Masters, Sun Xiaoyun Volume will be published by People's Fine Arts Publishing House during the exhibition.
Sun Xiaoyun is a national Class-A artist and vice president of the Nangjing Arts Institute. Born into a family with strong tradition of calligraphy. She has practiced the skill of calligraphy for as long as 47 years since the age of three. As a celebrated calligrapher of young and mid-aged generations, she has always persisted the skillful combination between the ancient calligraphic tradition and the modern aesthetic appreciation and made in-depth research into the stroke techniques. She has finally established a natural and elegant artistic style. Acclaimed by all walks of life, her works boasting delicacy and elegance, were frequently invited to the exhibitions at home and abroad.
