A pottery exhibition of Huang Songjian, comprising a total of more than 120 works during the five decades is currently on display at Hall 4 until Spet.14.
With a history of over five thousand years, the technique of ceramics in Shiwan town of Foshan, Guangdong, is included in the first group of the national-level intangible cultural heritage approved the State Council. Huang Songjian, at the age of 70 this year, is one of the celebrated artists in the Shiwan ceramics in modern times. Since the 1950s, he has been devoted to the cause of ceramics. The artist learned from the schools and developed his own style. He combined the traditional Chinese painting with the dolls and is named pioneer of Shiwan ceramics .
Huang Songjian is the first artist from Foshan to hold solo pottery exhibition in the National Art Museum of China. In the past fifty years, the artist has integrated the western ceramic art into the tradition and created huge outdoor sculpture. The exhibition comprises a total of 12 masterpieces.
