Sun Yat-sen s Mausoleum, Nanjing Association of Aeronautics, the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute for Generals, the representatives of the relatives of the martyrs, Nanjing Lantian Professional Training Institute, Nanjing Agricultural University, No.13 High School of Nanjing and people from many other walks of life jointly held a mourning event on the occasion of the Tomb Sweeping Day at the Monument Square of Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs at 9 am today.

The mourning event was hosted by Mr. Shen Xianjin, vice president of Nanjing Association of Aeronautics. Wang Jianhua, vice chairman of Nanjing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, Xu Lixin, president of Nanjing Association of Aeronautics, Yan Jianjian, director of Nanjing CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee, Pang Zhaoyin, deputy inspector of Nanjing CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee, Shan Hanzheng, secretary of the Party Committee of Dr.

Sun Yat-sen s Mausoleum, Lang Dadong, secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Dr. Sun Yat-sen s Mausoleum and other leaders attended the mourning event. Besides, representatives of the relatives of the martyrs, aviation veterans, leaders of relevant provincial and municipal departments of Jiangsu and Nanjing as well as all the members of Nanjing Association of Aeronautics also came to attend the tomb-sweeping event.

After the mourning and tomb-sweeping event at the cemetery, the symposium of the representatives of the relatives of the martyrs was held at the Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen s Mausoleum. 37 relatives of 18 martyrs from Beijing, Sichuan, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Jiangsu and other places attended the symposium.

The representatives of the relatives included Yu Li, grand granddaughter of Martyr Gao Zhihang, Zhuang Weiyang, son of Martyr Zhuang Dihua, He Xin, younger sister of Martyr He Jingchao, as well as Li Weimin, grandson of Martyr Li Jiechen. Some representatives of the relatives of the martyrs sincerely donated cultural relics and historical materials at the symposium.

At the symposium, the organizer presented List of Chinese, Soviet, American and Korean Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs jointly compiled by Nanjing Association of Aeronautics and Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs to the representatives of the relatives of the martyrs as gifts. The List collects a total of 4464 names of martyrs, including 3306 names of martyrs engraved on the Monument of Heroic Martyrs (882 Chinese martyrs, 236 former Soviet martyrs, 2186 American martyrs and 2 Korean martyrs), as well as 990 names of martyrs to be engraved on the monument (586 Chinese martyrs and 404 American martyrs).

At present, this List collects the most names of Anti-Japanese aviation martyrs in China. The Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen s Mausoleum is now gradually creating data files for every martyr, helping their relatives and descendants find their tombs more easily and comforting their souls in heaven.

Introduction to Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs

Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs was officially open to the public free of charge in September 2009. Since the date of its completion and opening, the Memorial Hall has regarded it as a long-term task to strengthen patriotic education, contact with relatives of the martyrs, construction of the area of the Memorial Hall as well as collection and organization of cultural relics and historical materials.

On April 4, 2010, the Memorial Hall held the first symposium of the representatives of the relatives of the martyrs. At the symposium, every relative of the martyrs told the moving stories of their beloved ones and donated many precious cultural relics and materials to the Memorial Hall, greatly enriching its collections.

At present, the Memorial Hall has displayed part of the donations such as 2 aluminum spectacles cases which were Martyr Liang Hongyun s used objects donated by his daughter Liang Mengxia, the shirt and waistcoat which were Martyr Su Guanghua used clothing donated by his daughter Ms. Su Wan as well as the photos of Martyr Wen Yan donated by his son Wen Youxing in the exhibition hall.
