The Energy Foundation (TEF) and Hainan Province signed a memorandum in Haikou on July 11th, for the purpose of helping to make Hainan the pilot province in China for energy efficient buildings.
The memorandum states that TEF supports Hainan's program of energy efficient buildings in the same way as other Chinese sustainable energy programs. A professional team containing Chinese and foreign experts will be sent to Hainan to pass on their experience of energy efficient buildings from other countries and areas whilst international experts will provide instruction for the construction of a pilot energy efficient city in Hainan.
According to the agreement, Hainan will further implement energy efficient buildings standards and refurbish existing buildings basing on energy efficient standards.
TEF is a non-governmental international organization, whose mission is to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy - new technologies that are essential components of a clean energy future.
