After being reelected as the a member of Asian Council of World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) at the 3rd Asian Conference held in Hamamatsu City of Japan on October 20th, Haikou was elected as a member of UCLG World Executive Bureau and member of the UCLG World Council at the 3rd World Conference of the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) on November 20th.
More than three thousand representatives including representatives from more than one thousand four hundred member cities and more than seven hundred mayors from various regions of the world attended the conference in Mexico City.
At the Conference, Mr. Kadir Topbas, the Mayor of Istanbul was elected as the new Chairman; Mr. Wan Qingliang, Mayor of Guangzhou was elected as the new Co-Chairman of UCLG. The Chairman of China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr.Chen Haosu and city representatives from various countries and the local overseas Chinese society extended their congratulations to Haikou.
