According to the Haikou Evening News on June 2nd, the Haikou Garden received high praise in the closing ceremony of the 7th China International Garden and Flower Expo this year in Jinan, Shandong Province. The organizing committee awarded the Haikou Garden an Overall Silver Medal for External Garden Parks and an Honorable Mention for Architectural Creation of External Garden Parks.
The theme of Haikou Garden was characterized by Haikou's green ecology and tropical island location. It occupied 1,300 square meters in the shape of a Square and Circle Island, featuring Haikou's unique tropical island landforms and land application conditions. The garden was elaborately decorated with peculiar and colorful plants. In addition to the "Listen to the rain" feature located in the center of garden, there were a number of other scenic spots such as "Qiongtai Square", "Rainwind Scenery Porch" which fully showcased the unique historic culture of Haikou and its natural landscape as part of a tropical island.
