Winter fair sets new record,agricultural orders for 5.65 metric tons received

After setting many records in 2010, this year's 13th China (Hainan) International Tropical Agricultural Winter Fair closed on December 14th, reports the Haikou Daily. According to statistics, orders of 5.65 Metric Tons for agricultural products of various categories were placed and more than thirty thousand residents and tourists were received over three days.
The fair followed the theme of 'Forging a national tropical modern agriculture base and moving forward the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island' and shows the result of the post-financial crisis agricultural production, the results of integrating production and sale, and the supervision of quality and safety. The person responsible from the organizing committee of the Winter Fair said this year's event set records from the following aspects:
Orders for agriculture products in various categories placed in three days increased by 11% compared to the previous year whilst the transaction value exceeded 23 billion RMB, a 28% increase over the previous year.
A new high has also been reached in attracting investment. There have been 97 outbound trade missions resulting in the launch of 90 initiatives including the agriculture products program, the plant and grow program and the leisure agriculture program.
The scale of the fair also hit a new peak with an exhibition area of 72 thousand squared meters, 2000 square meters more than last year. Moreover, the fair received active participation by residents and travelers from in and outside the island with 300 thousand participants attending. In addition, almost one hundred journalists from more than thirty media outlets including the People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, The Guangming Daily and The Hainan Daily etc. were sent to report on the fair.
