Mr. Zhang Gu, the director of Sichuan Tourism Administration, attended the provincial tourism industry directors conference on Feb. 19th to discuss the next 5 year plan of Sichuna s tourism industry. He said the Sichuan tourism industry would show the world that it was beautiful in 2010, but it would become even more beautiful in 2011.
Clustering development of the tourism industry is a new concept proposed during this year s conference. In the next five years, 10 tourism regions in Sichuan will be renovated to optimize the allocation of tourism resources, by doing so they hope to save operational costs and help the environment. The tourism industry will first focus on investing in minority groups and those who areas that suffered during the 2008 earthquake.
The tourism industry will become one of the most important driving forces in these areas economic development. 10 new itineraries, helping 100 Tibetan Villages, will be designed this year to attract more tourists to Tibetan residences in Sichuan.
