The 2011 Sichuan Country Tourism Project Initiative and the Chengdu Tulip Travel Festival held their opening ceremonies March 10th at Shixiang(Stone Elephant)Lake, Chengdu.
On the opening ceremony, 10 charmingly naive Baby Elephant Dolls had attracted lots of attention from the tourists. These 10 dolls are this year s new mascots for Shixiang Lake. These mascots were also released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Shixiang Lake scenic spot.
The theme of this year s country tourism festival is Travel in the Sichuan s Countryside and Enjoy the Sea of Flowers. The Sichuan tourism administration is collecting information on spring travel itineraries and they will be released soon. There will be more than 230 festivals and events related to the Sichuan countryside travel initiative.
