Ya an, Sichuan, gave a presentation to promote the Giant Panda in Beijing. Mr. Liu Zhong, a famous painter, was also invited to help promote the project. He promised to include the Giant Panda in his paintings and let more people to know this precious and adorable animal. Mr. Liu Zhong is a famous painter in China and has become the first Chinese painter to hold a personal exhibition, held in 2009, in the Venice Biennale.
Ya an is the first place in the world to discover the Giant Panda and it is called the City of the Giant Panda. 52% of the Giant Panda population in Sichuan live in Ya an. At present, there are more than 300 wild Giant Pandas and another 90 Pandas live in the Ya an zoo. Mr. Liu Shoupei, Mayor of Ya an, also opened an online blog to promote the Giant Panda.
