Shanghai Expo Saw Influx of 4 Million Visitors from outside Chinese Mainland

THE 6-month Shanghai World Expo, which closed on Oct. 31, drew 4.25 million visitors from outside the Chinese mainland, with two-thirds of which arriving from Asia, said the National Statistics Bureau.
Overseas visitors and those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan accounted for 5.8 percent of the total 73 million visitors during the expo. Specifically, two-thirds of the visitors from outside the Chinese mainland came from Asia, followed by Europe with 708,000 visitors, noted officials. Further, visitors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached 1.5 million, or 35 percent of the visitors outside the Chinese mainland.
