THE Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the World Expo in October as part of its six-day China tour.
The orchestra will be involved in the "Liverpool Wondrous Place" event that will take place at the Expo from October 15-18.
Russian Vasily Petrenko will conduct the orchestra, which will perform two concerts at Shanghai Concert Hall: Elgar`s "Cockaigne" and Shostakovich`s "Symphony No. 15."
The philharmonic will also perform a piece composed for a new Chinese stringed instrument called the "dahu," which was created by Li Kui Hsuing, who worked on the soundtrack for the famous film "The Last Emperor."
