VENEZUELA celebrates its National Pavilion Day today with a performance by indigenous Yanomami rainforest people and a children`s orchestra.
The 3,000-square-meter pavilion in Zone C is themed "A Better Life, A Better City."
The concept is based on the belief that cities cannot aspire to be truly great places to live until they first improve the lives of their citizens and solve important social problems.
The 3,000-square-meter pavilion depicts many aspects of history, culture, modern life and economy in the major oil-producing nation.
The pavilion is shaped like a continuous looping "Mobius strip" similar to the shape of the numeral "8," which is considered lucky in China. The Venezuelan flag too features eight stars.
The pavilion recognizes the legacy of the country`s indigenous people, replicating ethnic structures such as the Shapono Yanomami (forest villages) and the Churuata Yekuana (traditional homes of the Yekuana tribe).
