Shiliupu New Terminal Opens

Write: Manu [2011-05-20]
A 140-year-old Shiliupu Terminal has quietly reopened. People can easily reach out to or touch the water of the Huangpu River through its hydrophilic platform. Standing at the Shiliupu Terminal, one can take in a panoramic view of the old Bund and the magnificent sights of Lujiazui.
After conversion, the new Shiliupu Terminal has not only restored its navigation features, it has also become a Water Tourism Terminal incorporating sightseeing, tours and leisure. According to the plan, it will be the central point for sale of tickets for and the departure of river sightseeing boats.
Shiliupu Terminal is divided into five layers from top to bottom, a total of 12 berths and six boarding gates. The 1st floor is a viewing and hydrophilic platform, B0 layer is a sunken square and boarding area, B1 level is ticket hall and main waiting lounge, B2 level is mainly shopping and dining, with B3 being mainly for parking.
According to the concerned official, increasing commercial and leisure activities are driving up the demand for parking space, allocating a full floor for underground car parking solves parking problems on the one hand and also alleviating traffic pressures in the surrounding areas.
