SHANGHAI plans to integrate culture and creative activities into a new pillar industry that is seen to rank No. 2 in the city and will drive the local economy, top city officials said yesterday.
The city has established a new office to promote the new culture and creative industry, according to Yin Yicui, Shanghai`s deputy Party secretary.
The new industry is related to traditional industries including manufacture, retail and IT and daily life. It will also improve the image of Shanghai which aims to be an international "design city," said Yin.
