JOINTLY hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration and VNU Exhibitions Asia, the 7th Shanghai World Travel Fair (WTF) opened at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. It attracted more than 50 countries and regions with 450 exhibitors.
Judging from the tourism products put out by both Chinese and foreign travel agencies at this year`s Travel Fair, the exhibitors from various countries have all chosen to place their focus on "Theme Tours", and "In-Depth Travel". The Kenya Tourism Board`s "Kenya`s Animal Migration 9 - 10 Day 4-Wheel Drive Tour" travel series excited much interest; some travel agents in Australia brought desert trips, tour of the Aboriginal land and the floral tour packages, visitors can also have Western church wedding tours in Melbourne custom-made for them, all those demonstrated that 2010 is a year of in-depth tourism. The industry insiders believe that China`s maturing and discerning travelers are looking for more high-quality tourism services and products, travel agents all around the world are providing such resources to cater to this demand whilst also developing new tourism products and routes.
Shanghai World Expo Theme Tour is the highlight of the this year`s Shanghai World Travel Fair, Shanghai Dazhong Travel Agent, Spring International and Shanghai Airlines Holidays Travel Agent, the three designated World Expo travel agents, put out over 30 classic routes covering Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai which include Nanxun, Changzhou, Zhoushan , Yancheng, Ningbo, Xitang, Chongming and other tourist destinations, but they are also actively promoting the development of other World Expo tour products.
Shanghai World Travel Fair has become one of the important fairs in terms of the procurement of outbound tourism services and products. This year`s Fair extended invitations to many corporate buyers including dozens of Fortune 500 companies such as Bayer, General Electric, SAIC Group, and so on. It is reported that more than 1000 outbound travel agencies, more than 500 group corporations, participated in the WTF.
