The translucent lantern-like Ireland Pavilion is inviting visitors to experience the country`s charm through the ages at the 2010 World Expo.
The architecture of the translucent pavilion is intended to reflect the duality of the Irish experience and symbolizes the relationship between urban and rural, man-made and natural.
It presents visitors with a vision of various aspects of Irish life - a country offering a fascinating blend of history, scenery and culture as well as one of the world`s most open economies.
The Irish harp is the symbol of the pavilion. As a country known for its music, music is an element that cannot be missed.
Visitors will be drawn towards the Ireland Pavilion by popular Irish performers such as the Chieftains, Enya, U2, Westlife, Riverdance and so forth, appearing on a screen video wall.
They will be encouraged to follow the dizzy dancing steps of Irish performers appearing on a large screen.
Visitors will get a feel of Dublin`s famous Liffey River and walk down a re-creation of O`Connell Street, another landmark of the Irish capital. A military barracks dating back to 1722 also helps trace the city`s history.
The elaborately carved entrance stone of the Newgrange Megalithic tumulus, Ireland`s most celebrated prehistoric monument, is also on display. It will lead visitors to explore the evolution of Irish life from scattered rural settlement patterns through low-rise suburbia, to the increasingly dense urban development of today.
