SHANGHAI Botanical Garden will reopen today after three months of restorations.
The restorations included expanding the lake, and repaving all passageways, garden officials said yesterday.
Several rivers were also dredged, allowing visitors to rent small boats to view flowers and trees.
The garden will introduce some new plants such as yellow and violet azaleas. About 200 types of pine and cypress trees were also added, officials said.
A peony exhibition starts today and continues until the end of February. More than 500 peonies, including 60 breeds, will be exhibited. Most of the peonies come from Luoyang, Henan Province, an area famous for peony flowers.
Some of the peonies will be displayed at 2010 World Expo site, garden officials said.
