Renovated Bund will License Photo Sites

THE city will introduce licensed photography stalls along the Bund promenade when reconstruction of the area is finished at the end of next month, officials said yesterday.
According to the new rule, the fee for taking photos at each stall will be the same - currently set at 7 yuan (US$1.02) per picture. Customers can also download their pictures from a Website at no cost.
Renovation of the Bund scenic walk began in February 2009. The project will make the riverfront more pedestrian friendly and be ready in time for the World Expo, which opens on May 1.
When the project is finished, the nearly 2-kilometer riverside strip from Suzhou Creek to Xinkaihe Road will be turned into a pedestrian-only promenade featuring restaurants and other tourist attractions.
A tunnel for vehicles will ensure there is less traffic.
