THE Shanghai M.I.C.E. Task Force was established by Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration (SMTA) on Apr. 26, 2010. Twenty-five industry leaders and professionals from leading hotels, airlines, M.I.C.E. venues and PCOs in Shanghai attended the first meeting. Connie Cheng, vice chairman of SMTA attended the meeting and suggested all members join hands and work together to better promote Shanghai as a M.I.C.E. destination.
Shanghai is a dynamic and vigorous city. Thanks to the upcoming World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, the number of qualified professionals in M.I.C.E. industry has been increased. The hardware of M.I.C.E. in Shanghai has also been improved. However, compared with the other international M.I.C.E. cities, Shanghai needs to improve the software of M.I.C.E. industry, especially the service mentality and service quality.
A brainstorm on how to promote Shanghai as a M.I.C.E. destination was held and many attendees expressed their ideas. Banu Kannu, director of events of Turning Point (an event management company) suggests Shanghai make full use of the Expo 2010 and showcase our M.I.C.E. members to the medias in the world. Yichiro Yamada, general manager of Shanghai World Financial Center Forum believes that Shanghai is a unique city which has lots of resources and the task force is a good opportunity for Shanghai M.I.C.E. professionals to sit together and share their resources and join hands to better promote Shanghai.
The Shanghai M.I.C.E. Task Force consists of 20 members from local organizations and companies in Shanghai travel & tourism industry. Meetings and events will be held regularly to gather creative ideas to better serve the M.I.C.E. industry in Shanghai and promote Shanghai as a popular meetings & events destination.
