HISTORIC Longhua Temple fair, which first took place around 400 years ago, is being held this year following a three year break.
However, it will take place at Longhua riverside as its usual location outside the temple is currently a Metro line construction site, Xuhui District Tourism Administration yesterday.
It will run between April 3 to 10, with attraction including Chinese games, snacks, sports competitions, Chinese opera and the opportunity to learn handicrafts from folk artists, said the tourism authority.
On display at the fair will be a special 26-meter-long painting depicting Longhua Town in the 1960s. It captures the Chinese ancient town style, with leafy greenery and busy streets.
Xuhui District tourism authorities said once the Metro line project is complete, the area will be restored to what it looked in the mid 20th century.
Free shuttle buses will run between the fair site and the Chuanchang Road Station of Metro Line 7 and Gate 1 of Longhua Martyrs Cemetery.
