Evolution of the school
Wuhan Physical Culture Institute was originally known as middle and southern Physical Culture Institute, established in Nanchang of Jiangxi Province in 1953, adjourned to the present location in 1955, changed into a present name in 1956. Wuhan Physical Culture Institute is one of the first batch of higher sports institutions of higher learning which new China establishes, it is State Sport General Administration originally State Physical Culture and Sports Commission) Directly subordinate to the sports universities and colleges, the management system reform of the school of 2001, build together the universities and colleges for State Sport General Administration and Hubei now.

The campus of our school is located in the side of beautiful East Lake, Wuhan, cover an area of 55.667 hectares, with a construction area of 330000 square meters, have more advanced and more complete teaching, training, scientific research and life facility, and opened campus network. For meet the needs of development, our school prepare to establish the intersection of second revisal and district, 66.667 of planning area now.

There are 822 of teaching and administrative staff on the permanent staff, teacher, 405 coaches among them now in our school. In the teacher, coach team, there are 58 chief professors, associate professor is 153, 166 of teacher with doctor, master s degree, have a batch of experts and scholars and famous coaches with bigger influence outside China.
Structure of institutes and departments
The teaching unit of our school consists of five institutes, five, four, second revisal, namely sports social science institute, Wushu institute, sports Physical Culture Institute, adult education institute, sports technical college ( Independent institute) Department of physical education, the intersection of sport and department, the intersection of sports and artistic department, the intersection of movement and human science and psychological department, department of department and information technology of sports, lesson department of moral of Marxism-Leninism, foreign language lesson department, graduate student department, training department, race in the sports school, sports activity school subsidiarily.
Offer 13 bachelor degree and specialities of 7 Master degree candidates, face China and enroll new students, and recruit the foreign foreign student.
