The Wugong Mountain is one of the three famous mountains in South China. The Wugongshan scenic area was promoted to national geopark status in 2005. Sub-alpine meadows, waterfalls and rare plants make the mountain the most famous attraction in Jiangxi Province.
Introduction to the scenic spots
1. The Seven-Color Waterfall
It lies in Wanglongshan Mountain. Its Main features: It s a natural lesser waterfall of five to six meters high, seven to eight meters wide and about 25 cm deep, formed by water conservancy drops. One can have a touch of the water and have a relax. Several huge stones divide it into many small pools one after another.
2. Golden-Kettle Splashing Water
It s located on the Hongyan Valley Scenic Spot in the Jinding Tourist Zone. Its main features: when it s brimmed with water, it becomes 70 meters wide. The water rushes down powerfully and magnificently from 120-meter-high mountain, splashing raindrops rising, with the rainbow in the misty sun.
3. Toad-shaped Rocks
It lies in Diaomazhuang of Jinding Tourist Zone. Its main featues: several bizarre rocks look like toads listening to the sound of the bell from nearby temple with rapt attention, whose legs are sturdy and smooth.
4. The white-Crane Taoist Temple
It lies on the White-Crane Peak of Jinding Tourist Zone. It was built in the 60th year of Kangxi Period of Qing Dynasty. Until now, it still keeps the Taoist flavor of primitive simplicity.
Taoist Convent: it lies in Jinding Tourist Zone. Its main features: according to the written history, it was once a hall whose roof was constructed with copper tiles. At the end of Ming Dynasty, it was moved here, its walls were made of stones and the roof was made of iron tiles, which covered a land of 5,400 sq km. Up till now, it has been under renovation several times.
How to get there:
There are No.319 and 320 National Roads, Nanjing-Ruijin Highway, Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway traversing Pingxiang City. It costs at most two hours from Beijing-Zhuhai Highway, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Jiulong Railway to Pingxiang City and one hour to Huanghua Airport of Changsha City in Hunan Province, and three hiurs to Changbei Airport of Nanchang in Jiangxi Province. Therre are Wugongshan tourist trains (N627/628) from Nanchang to Pingxiang. One can take No.1 and No.2 buses from the railway station to the Southern Railway Station in Pingxiang and then change to tourist buses from Pingxiang to Wugongshan Mountain. It s 47 kilo miles from Wugongshan Mountain to the downtown of Pingxiang. One can take a regular bus (at 20-minute intervals) at the bus station in the west coner of the downtown. It ll cost you one hour to Wugongshan Mountain. Soon later, the tourist buses from Pingxiang Railway Station to Wugongshan Mountain and the tourist special buses from Pingxiang to Wugongshan Mountain will be open to tourists. Getting off Nanjing-Ruijin Highway at the Luxi stop, one will spend 40 minutes to go there.
