Qiandongnan (Southeast Guizhou) Nationalities Museum, located in Dayouzhuang Development Area of Kaili, covers an area of 10,000 square meters. It was opened to the public on 23 July 1988 and the role purpose of it is to carry forward the brilliant culture created by the people such as Miao, Dong, Han, Shui, Buyi, Tujia, Yao, Zhuang and the like who inhabited here for centuries. In the museum some cultural relics of great value in history, science and art have been collected, protected, studied and exhibited systematically and scientifically.

Being mixed together with the shape of a Pile dwelling of Miao and a Drum Tower of Dong, the main building of Qiandongnan Nationalities Museum has a building area of 7,421 square meters including twelve showrooms and an underground one as well. Four long term exhibition are open to the public and a series of provincial exhibitions of different theme have also been held here.

The four main exhibitions are the General Picture of Qiandongnan, Dragon boat in Southeast Guizhou, and the Folk Art & Crafts of Ethnic Minorities. In these exhibitions, the long-preserved, simple but exquisite ethnic costumes, the ethnic holidays with rich and varied activities, the highly skilled buildings and dragons with distinctive ethnic features, either in pictures, objects in kind or models, are to be opened up before the eyes of all visitors who come from at home and abroad.
