In 333 B.C. King of State Chu had a City built on the Stone Hill. In the Three Kingdoms period, Sun Quan, King of State Wu had the Stone City built as a military fortress. Because west of the fortress is the old course of the Yangtze River, this hill became an important spot where the military commanders contended for in ancient times.
