Rafting
There are many high mountains, deep valleys and spectacular waterfalls along the Maoyan River, where is a fantastic place for rafting (white water rafting ). Sometimes, it runs wildly over rocks; Sometimes, it flows peacefully through a narrow gorge. When rafting among this river, you can see green mountains rise sharply from the valley floor and more than 30 fascinating waterfalls. You will find yourself have enough freedom to be yourself when rafting in the river.
Another notable river for white water rafting is called the Mengdong River that has won the title of "the No.1 rafting in the world", nearly 40 minutes drive of downtown Zhangjiajie. Nestled among steep and verdant mountains, it is an ideal place for retreat,flowing through a primitive canyon with towering limestone cliffs. Rafting here usually takes you 3 hours, ending at Furong town that is well preserved with old streets and wooden buildings, used to be named "Wangcun" until a famous movie entitled "Hibiscus Town" was filmed there. It is really worth visiting.
Hot Springs Bathing
Hot springs are unique tourism resources in Zhangjiajie, developed on the basis of natural conditions. Be sure to take a hot mineral bath here if you are tired of the quick pace of modern life. Mineral waters heated naturally at 53 are available in Zhangjiajie all year round. In Zhangjiajie, two famous places are recommended to go: one is Jiangya Thermal Spring Resort, another is Wanfu Thermal Spring Resort. Both the two are located in Cili, a beautiful county about 70 km away from Zhangjiajie city downtown.
