In October, Consumer Price Index (CPI) gained a year on year increase of 1.4 percent. Of the total, 1.4 percent increase for urban areas and 1.3 percent increase for rural areas. In terms of different categories, CPI for foodstuff, non-foodstuff, consumable, and services rose by 2.2, 1.0, 1.4 and 1.5 percent, respectively. In addition, CPI up by 0.1 percent from September. In October, the price of foodstuff up by 2.2 percent. Of which, grain up by 3.7 percent; that of oil, poultry and its products rose by 1.2, 2.6 and 5.9 percent; that of aquatic products rose by 2.6 percent; while that of vegetables decreased 5.7 percent. The price of tobacco, alcohol and daily articles shot up by 0.8 percent from the same period of the previous year. Of which, the price of tobacco and alcohol rose 0.2 and 2.0 percent. The price of clothing declined 0.2 percent from the same month of the previous year, of which 0.5 percent decrease for clothes. The prices of household appliances and maintenance services rose by 1.7 percent. Of which, price of consumer durables rose by 1.6 percent and price of household services gained an increase of 5.6 percent. The price of medical care and personal articles increased 1.3 percent. Of the total, price of western medicines declined 1.8 percent; that of traditional Chinese medicinal materials and medicines up by 1.3 percent; and that of medical care services shot up by 2.1 percent. The price of transportation and communications had a fine increase of 0.1 percent, year on year. Of which, price of vehicles declined 2.4 percent; that of vehicle fuel and spares increased 12.1 percent; that of using and maintaining of vehicles rose by 2.9 percent,; that of intercity transportation rose by 6.3 percent; that of urban transportation rose by 5.3 percent; while the price of telecommunication instruments declined 17.5 percent. The price of recreational, educational and cultural articles and services decreased 1.3 percent comparing with the same period a year ago. Of which, tuition and cost on baby-care decreased 1.7 percent; that of education and recreation rose by 2.5 percent; that of tourism up by 4.0 percent; while price of recreational articles decreased 0.5 percent. The prices for residential articles up by 4.6 percent, year on year. Of the total, price of water, electricity and fuels shot up by 4.5 percent; price of house construction and decoration materials rose by 4.7 percent and house renting up by 3.8 percent. The totaled CPI from January to October gained a year on year increase of 1.3 percent. |
