National Business Climate Index Kept Fast Pace in the Second Quarter


Business Climate Survey results of NBS in whole country showed that the national business climate index (BCI) was 137.4 in the second quarter of 2008, slightly increasing over the previous quarter, while that dropped year-on-year.

The BCI of information transfer computer services and software stood at 162.9, continuing placed high position, increased 3.9 and 4.4 points as compared with first quarter and same period of previous year respectively. Due to the season s factor, the BCI of industry jumped to 144.2, promoted over the first quarter and same period of previous year. The BCIs of construction, transportation, storage and post, wholesale and retail trades, real estate, social services, and lodging and catering respectively was 135.7, 129.0, 147.5, 131.8, 124.8 and 121.3; as compares with first quarter, the BCIs of industry rose 2.4 points, that of real estate remained the general level, that of the other industries declined subsequently.

The BCIs of various types of enterprises of registration kept general level sequentially. The BCIs of state-owned enterprises, collective-owned enterprises, joint-stock cooperative enterprises, limited liability company, share-holding enterprises, private enterprises, foreign funded enterprises, and enterprises with funds from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan respectively was 135.5, 108.8, 109.3, 135.8, 146.7, 121.7 and 141.3. As compared with first quarter, the BCIs of state-owned enterprises and limited liability company promoted slightly,collective-owned enterprises was increasing slightly, share-holding enterprises remained the general level, while that of the other types of enterprises have different levels of decline; Various types of business climate dropped in the range between 5-16 points year-on-year.

The BCIs of small, medium and large enterprises stood at 115.7, 125.3 and 155.9 respectively, remained general level as compared with first quarter, while that declined year-on-year.

The BCIs of eastern, central and western regions was 139.8, 137.7 and 132.3 respectively.

The BCIs of national key state enterprises, listed companies, and national pilot enterprises stood at 164.6, 164.1 and 163.7 respectively. The BCIs dropped as compared with first quarter, and declined in the range between 10-15 points year-on-year.
