Former employees who have been laid of at Maine-based leather company Prime Tanning are offered Trade Adjustment Assistance from the government.
The Assistance can allow workers to take advantage of skills assessments, training and help with job searches.
This help has been offered because the labour department believes workers at the company lost their jobs because of competition from overseas. The company, specialised in wet blue and finished leather for the upholstery, footwear, apparel and leathergoods sectors, has been restructuring over the last couple of years.
