Rolls Royce remains the favorite British carmaker among Koreans, followed by Jaguar and Mini, according to an online survey by U.K. Trade & Investment on the image of the U.K. in Korea for two weeks starting from Nov. 4. The business organization particularly analyzed answers from 1,000 people in their 30s to 50s with experience of doing business overseas.
Burberry was the most popular British fashion brand with 41 percent of the votes. Other popular brands were Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood. Some of the favorite British bands were the Beatles, Queen and the Rolling Stones.
The greatest invention by a Britain was the Internet, invented by Tim John Berners-Lee, topping Charles Babbage's computer and Alexander Graham Bell's telephone. In bio-science, 48 percent of the respondents chose Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin as the most innovative achievement. U.K. Trade & Investment pointed out that 25 out of the world's top 100 medicines are made in the U.K.
The poll was conducted to promote advanced industries in the crash-hit island country among Korean businessmen, and also to discover what image the U.K. enjoys among Korean entrepreneurs.
