Ms. Ertekin sees this visit as an opportunity to form business bonds with China that has a huge garment and textile production industry, and to cater a fashion consultancy service to Chinese brands who need help to design their collection.
Currently, she is in talks with the well-established Chinese luxury fashion brand that has outlets across the Europe, with one in Sloane Street, London. The fashion designer came across Shanghai Tang, a luxury brand called, while doing research on new stores and shopping centres in Hong Kong.
The brand uses modern Chinese designs with a traditional touch and produces high quality garments and accessories. Ms. Ertekin said, as China doesn’t have facilities favorable for shoe production, she will assist in producing the new shoe collection in Italy.
The fashionista has designed under major brands including Kenzo in Paris and Moschino in Italy. Ms. Ertekin, who is now performing a new role of fashion consultant, also designs under her self-name and has 13 years experience in the fashion industry.
