Vera Wang was thrilled when an ice skater wearing one of her designs won the Olympic gold medal.
The fashion designer created a sleek black bodysuit, complete with a silver sequinned snake, for Evan Lysacek and admitted it was dream come true when he skated his way to victory for the USA at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Vera - who comes from a skating background, even trying out for the national championships in the US in 1968 - said: "It was just so exciting. The Olympics are something you can't really convey on TV. The entire stadium was screaming. They were waving American flags in the stands. It was the Olympic moment I never had, by the way. But one I certainly aspired to."
She celebrated the memorable occasion with a party in Evan's honour at the USA House in Vancouver, Canada.
Talking about the bash, Vera - who was joined by skating greats Brian Boitano, Dorothy Hamill and Kristi Yamaguchi - told WWD: "At the USA House, I got to hang out with skaters, ski jumpers and all different athletes. It's so positive. It was kind of wonderful just to be there."
