Alexa Chung's style is inspired by her mother.
The British TV presenter - who is often voted one of the world's most fashionable women - admits she often borrows outfits from her mum as she is a very classic dresser.
She said: "My mum is a very mummy mum. She cooks at the Aga and she's not vain in any way, but she is quite stylish. All the things that I wear I've borrowed from her, back in the day. Russell and Bromley was a staple in our house. A Louis Vuitton satchel. The Burberry mac. Some classic pieces."
Although she is now regarded as a style icon, Alexa admits her fashion sense was not understood when she worked in the US.
The 26-year-old brunette - who has fronted two series of MTV show 'It's On with Alexa Chung' - says stylists didn't know how to take her eccentric look when she was recording and would often try to change it.
She told Radio Times magazine: "I feel like American girls are a lot neater. Like, fur with leather trousers and heels.
"People would star to fuss with my hair and I'd say, 'No it's meant to be like that.' "
Alexa insists she does not look at trends for inspiration and just she chooses whatever takes her fancy.
She said: "I don't intellectualise fashion. I just like things. I don't really follow trends."
