The Danish fashion industry joins forces and launches a huge marketing campaign to promote Scandinavian fashion internationally in conjunction with the World's Greatest Catwalk exploding on 14 August.
The four competing fashion fairs in Copenhagen join forces with > Copenhagen Fashion Week and the trade association Dansk Fashion & Textile to intensify the marketing of fashion week internationally with support from Denmark's Marketing Fund.
The upcoming Copenhagen Fashion Week in August 2010 will present a fashion event of unseen dimensions as the length of the great pedestrian street 'Strøget' between City Hall and Kongens Nytorv will with its 1.3 kilometres be transformed into the world's longest outdoor catwalk.
The joint venture will feature more than 200 models and celebrities and will be visited by international high-profile journalists and key buyers as well as crowds from Copenhagen and abroad. The world's greatest catwalk has been planned in a unique collaboration between Dansk Fashion and Textile, the fashion fairs Gallery, CIFF, CPH Vision and Terminal-2, Copenhagen Fashion Week ApS, Wonderful Copenhagen and Københavns City Center.
The world's greatest catwalk is just one of many initiatives to help increase the visibility of Danish fashion abroad to ensure more extensive national and international coverage and attract more fashion professionals to the fashion fairs and Copenhagen Fashion Week.
In line with the catwalk, a massive PR and marketing campaign is planned for the two upcoming fashion weeks where great effort will be put into promoting Copenhagen in key markets like Scandinavia, Benelux, the UK and Germany, as well as into inviting international key press and buyers to visit the city through MyFashionWeek, the travel site for fashion professionals.
This unique collaboration between the Copenhagen fairs, Dansk Fashion & Textile and Copenhagen Fashion Week is the most extensive of its kind to date and aims to strengthen Copenhagen's position as an international fashion capital and the growth of Scandinavian fashion by placing Copenhagen at the top of the fashion agenda as one of the most significant fashion venues in Europe.
