May 04-Demand for bi-oriented polyamide (BOPA) film worldwide will grow 3.7% per annum until 2014, adding an additional 36,000 tonnes to demand, says a new report from PCI Films Consulting.
Global demand was just over 177,000 tonnes in 2009 and increased at an average rate of 8% since 2004.
The BOPA market is strongest in central and east Asia (Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan), which accounts for two thirds of both world demand and world capacity. In 2009, China accounted for 29% of BOPA film demand and 30% of capacity.
China is also expected to boost the overall market s future growth as volume in the region will reach almost 70,000 tonnes by 2014.
In Europe, Germany and Italy are the biggest users of BOPA, accounting for 40% of the region s usage. France and Scandinavia also use a lot of BOPA film, says PCI
