Sabic reports healthy quarter with more to come

April 20 - Rising prices saw Sabic boost its performance in the first quarter of 2010. The chemicals giant reported net profits of $1.5bn, a turnaround on the same period in 2009, which saw the company report a loss of $258m.
The company s chief executive, Mohamed al-Mady, added that its plants at Sharq, Tianjin and Yansab will make positive contribution to the firm s performance during the next quarter.
Looking further ahead al-Mady said an expansion at Sabic s Ibn Rushd facility will add production capacity during 2012-13.
