WARSAW, March 31 - Poland's top refiner PKN Orlen PKNA.WA plans to start building a 460 megawatt gas-fired power plant in central Poland this year, its chief executive said on Wednesday.
Jacek Krawiec said PKN, which is hoping to expand beyond its core refining business, has already spoken with several potential partners, including France's GDF (GSZ.PA).
But PKN may decide to build the power plant alone, its officials added.
The state-controlled group also plans to pick a final bidder for its 85-percent stake in chemicals arm Anwil after the Easter holiday, Krawiec said.
Three bidders are said to have expressed interest in Anwil, including Poland's largest chemicals producer, Pulawy (PULW.WA). Analysts estimate the stake may be worth up to 1.5 billion zlotys ($520 million).
PKN shares edged up 0.5 percent in late morning trade, in line with the market. ($1=2.883 Zloty)
