HOUSTON, Oct 14 - Chevron Corp (CVX.N) said a planned overhaul of the hydrocracking complex at its 279,000 barrel per day (bpd) Los Angeles-area refinery in El Segundo, California started on Wednesday afternoon.
The 59,500-bpd hydrocracker was shut by a power outage at the refinery Wednesday afternoon, the company said in a statement. Chevron had planned to shut the unit Wednesday night.
"This electrical interruption resulted in the shutdown occurring slightly ahead of schedule and we have commenced our planned turnaround activities," spokeswoman Lily Craig said in the statement on Wednesday afternoon.
