TORONTO, Oct 13 - Total Petrochemical (TOTF.PA) said a fire early Tuesday morning at its 174,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, was out but the cause was under investigation.

"The refinery experienced an internal and partial power outage early Tuesday morning," said Karyn Grace, a spokeswoman for the company, who said the fire occurred upon restart.

She said there were no injuries and the fire was put out by the refinery's internal fire brigade.

According to a subsequent filing made with state regulators, the fire was in a pipe rack and that the cause of the power interruption and the fire was being investigated.

Trade sources said the fire was in a pipeline carrying heavy crude from storage into the crude unit, forcing a cut in rates to that unit.

The 232,000 barrel-per-day plant is comprised of a petrochemical plant and the 174,000-bpd refinery.
