RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 19 - Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras said on Monday domestic oil output rose 1.2 percent in September, compared with August, to a record high as it completed platform maintenance and boosted output at some wells.

Petrobras (PETR4.SA)(PBR.N) said production in Brazil hit a new record just above 2.00 million barrels per day (bpd) from 1.98 million bpd in August.

The company brought its Cidade de Sao Vicente floating production platform back online, completed maintenance on the P-19 platform and increased production at wells in the Marlim Sul and Caratinga fields.

Petrobras also said it began production at its Piranema field off the cost of northern Brazil.

Output outside Brazil rose to 149,300 bpd in September from 146,900 bpd the month earlier, taking the company's total production, including natural gas liquids, to 2.15 million bpd.

Brazil's Congress is currently discussing legislation that would make Petrobras the sole operator of new projects in the vast offshore subsalt province with a minimum 30 percent stake in those operations.
