Spectra - Sable Island natgas production decreased

NEW YORK, Oct 19 - Spectra Energy (SE.N) units Maritimes U.S. and Maritimes Canada said in separate website postings Monday that the Sable Offshore Energy natural gas production project off the coast of Nova Scotia was running at reduced rates.

"Maritimes has leaned that the Sable Offshore Energy Inc production facility has encountered a decrease in production during gas day Oct. 19. All shippers should take steps to ensure that scheduled deliveries are commensurate with scheduled receipts and that meter operators adhere to the scheduled volumes until further notice," the postings said.

A spokesman for Sable Island's operator, Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N), was not immediately available.

The Sable Island project produces between 400 and 500 million cubic feet of natural gas and 20,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day.

According to the company's website, the project is owned by Exxon, Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L), Imperial Oil Ltd (IMO.TO), Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGF_u.TO) and Mosbacher Operating Ltd.

The Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline system brings offshore, onshore and LNG-sourced natural gas from Atlantic Canada to North American markets.

Its 670-mile pipeline (340 miles U.S.) system brings fuel for to northeast United States and Atlantic Canada - 600 million cubic feet per day of natural gas capacity on the Canadian side and 800 million cubic feet per day on the U.S. side, extending from Nova Scotia into New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts where it connects with Algonquin Gas Transmission's pipeline system near Beverly, Massachusetts.
