Gasoline gained 6 cents on Monday in West Coast refined products markets after two Los Angeles refineries sustained malfunctions. September unleaded ethanol-bled CARBOB gasoline was priced between 42 cents and 47 cents per gallon over the NYMEX RBOB gasoline contract for October, which settled down 1.65 cents at $1.7433 per gallon. Torrance, California, refinery reported an equipment breakdown that triggered flaring on Sunday. A company spokeswoman said the mechanical breakdown had minor impact on production at the refinery and was repaired by late Monday morning. The refinery returned to normal operations after the repairs. Tesoro Corp (TSO.N) reported unplanned flaring due to an equipment breakdown on Monday at its 100,000 bpd Los Angeles refinery, according to a notice filed with California pollution regulators. The notice didn't list which units were involved or the nature of the breakdown. A Tesoro spokesman said he did not have information immediately available about the flaring. Los Angeles September CARB diesel sold at 5.5 cents per gallon over October NYMEX heating oil, fell 1.14 cents at $1.7422 a gallon.September L.A. jet fuel was at 2.5 cents/3.5 cents over heating oil. In the Portland, Oregon, market, unleaded gasoline was between 40 cents and 43 cents over NYMEX October RBOB. Portland diesel was offered at 30 cents over NYMEX heating oil.
