SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 5 - KBR Inc (KBR.N) has won an engineering and procurement contract from Saudi Aramco and ConocoPhillips (COP.N) for utilities and interconnecting systems and pipe racks at the Yanbu refinery in Saudi Arabia.

The 400,000 barrel-per-day export-oriented refinery project was halted last year due to global financial turmoil but was restarted in June. The refinery is expected to start operations in the third quarter of 2014 and cost about $12 billion to build.

KBR, which completed the front-end engineering and design on the refinery for Aramco and the U.S. oil company, said on Wednesday the latest award positioned it for "continued growth and future success in this market."

Further contracts for work on the refinery, which will be awarded in between nine and 11 packages, are due to be awarded later this year and in early 2010. [ID:nLU121359]

Other packages include a coker unit, crude facility, gasoline unit, hydrocracker, and tank farm.
